Hungary's opposition leads poll by 1 million voters
Main opposition party Fidesz would receive a million votes more than the governing Socialist Party (MSZP) if elections were to be held in Hungary, according to a recent poll conducted by Marketing Centrum.
If elections had been held on Sunday, Fidesz would have received 54% of the vote, with MSZP polling 32%, with opposition party MDF and junior governing coalition member SZDSZ each earning 5% shares. The remaining 17% of voters would decide which party to vote for on the day of the election.
One-third of those asked would like to have early elections. The poll also showed that since the general elections held one year ago, Fidesz has not lost many supporters, and has gained some former MSZP voters.
