Hungary's first green McDonald's opens
Hungary's first energy-saving McDonald's restaurant has opened on Budapest's Üllői út, reports pink.hu.
The interior design of the new McDonald's restaurant on Üllői út emphasizes the energy-saving features.
By having water-free urinals and water saving faucets, the restaurant's water usage is reduced to 70%, while LED lighting helps save 90% in energy.
The building's design uses green, brown and other natural colors to emphasize its uniqueness. A "green" McDrive also operates next to the restaurant.
According to the portal, McDonald's was among the first companies to introduce selective waste collection in Hungary. Due to its energy-saving program - despite the growing number of its restaurants - the company has managed to considerably reduce electricity and water usage in the past few years.
