Austria and Hungary will jointly celebrate the 200th anniversary of the death of composer Joseph Haydn next year, organisers announced at Eisenstadt on the weekend.

The anniversary year will kick off on May 31 when Haydn's most famous oratorio, Genesis, will be performed at Eisenstadt. Bartók Radio will broadcast a three-day festival from the same venue.
