Hungary Schengen date brought forward to December 21
The nine European Union member states set to join the Schengen zone this year will join ten days earlier than originally scheduled, on December 21, the rotating chair of the EU announced in Brussels on Wednesday. Membership will enable citizens of Hungary and the other new states to travel throughout the zone without border checks.
A final decision will be made in the first week of November by EU interior and justice ministers in Brussels.
