Hungary rejects settlement for Hungarians living in Serbia
The Office of Immigration and Nationality (Bevándorlási és Állampolgársági Hivatal) rejected the applications for settlement of several young Hungarians living in Vojvodina (Hungarian: Vajdaság), saying that the Ft 110,000 (€440) gross they earn in a month is not enough to maintain themselves in Hungary, reports Piac és Profit. According to a leader of a company employing Hungarian youth from Vojvodina, in the last half year the department has rejected the applications of all the employees from Vojvodina.
The regulations only specify which documents have to be attached to the applications, but it does not state how much income is required from the applicants.
Tamás Kontér, leader of the Foreign Directorate of the office, admitted that the decisions about applications for settlement are made by him but he did not specify the basis of consideration.
