Hungary last in survey of adult mortality rates
Hungary is last on a list of 90 countries regarding the mortality rate among those aged 15-60 years, with 177 deaths per 1,000 inhabitants annually, according to a survey by the World Health Organisation.
The country with the lowest rate of mortality, at 48 per 1,000 inhabitants, is San Marino. Among Central European countries Austria reported 79 deaths per 1,000 inhabitants, Slovenia 104, Croatia 113, Slovakia 136, Serbia 141 deaths, Poland 145, Bulgaria 157 and Romania 157.
A Hungarian male has a 64% chance of reaching the age of 65, while the same percentage in Austria is 82%.
A nationwide Hungarian survey on health will start on September 15, in which 7,000 people will be interviewed.
