Hungary hospitals short of tetanus shots
Numerous Budapest and county hospitals are running out of tetanus vaccines, reports mno.hu. Additional vaccines have been ordered from abroad, and are expected to arrive this week.
The reason for the shortage is that the vaccine's ingredients are no longer manufactured in Hungary since earlier this year. Stocks lasted until this time, and those hospitals that failed to order additional vaccines in time are now facing a shortage.
The vaccines ordered from abroad will cost three to four times as much as vaccines manufactured in Hungary, and it has not yet been decided if patients will have to pay for the otherwise free shot.
