Hungary does not capture Afghan prisoners, ministry says
Hungarian soldiers in Afghanistan do not take part in active operations that entail the capture of prisoners, the Defence Ministry said in response to a request from human rights body Amnesty International not to turn over Afghan prisoners to Afghan police, for fear that they might be tortured.
The ministry said the mandate of the provincial reconstruction teams in Afghanistan covers the organisation of local public administration, support for rebuilding processes and training local security forces.
