Hungary bans baby food originating from China
As of Thursday all Chinese imports of foodstuffs for babies and children containing products of animal and plant origin are banned.
Agriculture Ministry undersecretary Miklós Süth also ordered an examination of the melamine content of food items and fodder from China, to be carried out at the importers' expense.
Agriculture Administration Office vice president Lajos Bognár said food-chain safety inspectors have up until now not found any goods containing melamine that were hazardous to human health in Hungary.
