Hungarian train drivers' strike continues to disrupt services
After a two-hour engine drivers' strike, Hungarian State Railways is restoring its services to normal.
The aim of the strike was to convince the Transport Ministry to abandon its plan to eliminate 21 local railway lines. The strike affects over 600 passenger trains, around 20% of all train services managed by MÁV. Suburban traffic is expected to be restored around 1 pm, with long-distance travel probably back to normal by around 3-4 pm. Until then, delays can be expected. InterCity and international trains are treated as a priority.
