Hungarian tourists stuck in Greece due to strike
Hungarian tourists have got stuck in Greece because they have been unable to refill their cars due to a strike of Greek fuel carriers, MTI learnt on Thursday.
MTI was informed by a family complaining of receiving no assistance from Hungary's consulate in Athens, but Tibor Kaizinger, the consul, said at MTI's enquiry that "nobody was in serious danger" because of the fuel shortage.
The consul advised Hungarian tourists to return to Hungary by air or wait for the end of the strike. "Not even the consulate can supply petrol," he added.
Kaizinger also advised drivers heading for Greece to fill up their cars before crossing into the country and follow news reports. The strike is expected to end in a few days, but another day will be needed to refill petrol stations, he added.
