Hungarian teen rapist and murderer sentenced to 14 years
The 15-year-old boy accused of raping a girl and then burning her to death last summer was convicted Monday. He was sentenced to a 14-year prison term.
The presiding judge at the Makó municipal court found that the murderer, András K., known in the tabloids as Muki, took Henriette Pénzes to an abandoned area of Makó, where he raped her, took her eight gold rings and mobile phone and tied her to a tree. He drove off on a motorcycle to buy petrol, then poured the fuel over the girl and set her on fire when he returned.
Pénzes never recovered consciousness and died in hospital 20 days later. Police detained the suspect shortly after the incident.
When he heard the sentence, K. burst out laughing, while his mother broke out in tears. The prosecutor had requested a 15-year sentence. The verdict is open to appeal.
