Hungarian Teachers' Union shocked by 2008 budget
The Democratic Trade Union of Teachers (PDSZ) considers several elements of the 2008 budget for education unacceptable, writes nethirlap.hu.
As PDSZ chairman Gábor Kerpen reported, the trade union intends to negotiate with the Education Ministry as the budget will decrease normative support by Ft 40 billion (€160 million) in the next two years to ensure restructuring of the finance system. Performance indicators will also be introduced and mandatory working hours will be increased to cut the annual cost per student by Ft 250,000 (€1000).
