Linda Boronkay, a Hungarian second-year student at London's Metropolitan University, has won the inaugural Best Emerging Interior Designer award in Great Britain.

Boronkay's design was chosen ahead of hundreds of others by a jury last weekend. The award is sponsored by property developer Londonewcastle.

Boronkay told state news agency MTI on Wednesday that participants had to decorate a 45m2 interior suitable for young professionals working in the creative industries, who have a strong sense of style.

Boronkay will build her project for display at London's 100% Design exhibition at Earl's Court in September. She can also work for one week at the office of noted architects Johnson Naylor.
