Hungary's 7th military mission for Afghanistan, including more than 250 people, were dispatched at a ceremony in Hodmezovasarhely in southern Hungary on Thursday.

The Hungarian soldiers, who will work as part of a Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT), received their unit flag from President Laszlo Solyom at the farewell ceremony.

Defence Minister Imre Szekeres told MTI after the event that Hungarian soldiers' expertise and performance have been highly esteemed in various missions abroad.

Nearly 300 soldiers will be involved in reconstruction projects, as well as act as advisors in the setting up of the Afghan army and police force. They are also planned to be involved in training for the air force.
