The Hungarian Red Cross plans to dispatch an aid consignment to Romania's flood-stricken counties on Thursday, it announced on Tuesday.

The consignment will comprise five tonnes of canned food, two tonnes of concentrated detergent, blankets, mattresses and 1,400 survival kits including spoons, forks, canned food and hand wipes.

The aid will be directed to Suceava, Iasi, Botosani, Neamt and Maramures counties where current floods have claimed five victims and forced 12,000 people from their homes.
