Hungarian Railways reject rail union's new demands
MÁV officials rejected the Free Union of Railway Workers' new demand for an additional 1.1% wage hike and for guarantees that secondary railway lines will not be closed at Wednesdays talks.
The union has added the requests to its existing demands for a 10% wage hike on top of the 6.9% received at the beginning of this year, and a one-off net sum of Ft 250,000 per employee. MÁV did not present any counter-proposals.
The Transport Ministry did not send a representative to the meeting, which was mediated by Labour Ministry state secretary László Herczog.
Union officials see little chance for an agreement at the next meeting on July 7. They have threatened to go on strike on July 12.
