Hungarian railway workers strike expected Friday night
The Free Union of Railway Workers is expected to go on strike again from midnight Friday after talks with MÁV management broke down on Wednesday. The strike committee may make a final decision this afternoon.
The union continues to demand a 10% wage hike for workers at outsourced companies on top the 6.9% received at the beginning of the year, and a payment of Ft 250,000 each to employees of the privatised MÁV Cargo. MÁV management stands by its position that the union's demands are unrealistic.
Talks are to resume next week.
