Hungarian police expects extremist actions on Oct 23
According to the police and national security office leaders, extremist groups are planning to disrupt the 23 October commemorations.
The officers referred to Neo-fascist groups and football hooligans, many of whom have prior criminal records, who it claims are planning to stage dramatic protests intended to attract media attention. This runs contrary to national security leader György Szilvásy's statement made two weeks ago, in which he claimed that there would not be any riots on this year's national holiday.
The police and national security office claims it is aware of the plans being made by suspects, and that this knowledge will help them prevent riots and keep order. This is dependent on organisers of and participants in registered events cooperating with the law enforcers.
