Hungarian police join Hakkinen's drink-driving battle
National police chief József Bencze on Tuesday gave a press briefing in Budapest on responsible alcohol consumption and police action against drunk driving. Hungarian police are joining Mika Hakkinen's global campaign entitled "Never Drink while Driving." The Finnish driver, a two-time Formula One champion, was also present at the briefing.
"Speeding is the prime cause of road accidents in Hungary, but 13.2% of the accidents are caused by drunk drivers," Bencze noted. Last year 1,306 fatal road accidents occurred in Hungary, 154 of them because drivers had drunk to excess.
