Budapest transport company BKV filed a report against the unknown youths who derailed the 56 tram a week ago. According to index.hu, police are searching for the suspects and accepting assistance from the community and underground websites.

On Thursday, March 20, a bundle of newspapers placed onto the rails of the 56 tram forced the derailment after becoming caught in the tram's wheel mechanism. The tram car turned perpendicular to the rails and broke the fence of the Metro 4 construction site nearby. Nobody was injured in the accident.

The tram, left in its place, became the target of taggers while several witnesses made photos and video recordings. One of the videos even shows the tram driver walking by the taggers with no attempt to stop them, while a witness says that the driver even told them that in the case of that tram car, it did not matter anyway.

The BKV observer blog received several letters regarding graffiti community sites which made them suspect one of the taggers who deniesd that he placed the bundle of papers onto the rails. According to tram fan Gábor Hummer who witnessed the events, the whole procedure took only 15-20 minutes, and traffic was restored quite quickly. He adds that the tram suffered only minor damage.

Police are currently collecting information from the websites related to the graffiti taggers.
