“The Cultural Ministry will launch a Hungarian cultural festival entitled “Freedom and Love” (the title of one of poet Sándor Petõfi’s most celebrated verses) in China from September,” international relations undersecretary Katalin Bogyai told journalists yesterday.

The travelling roadshow will take in China's major cities and offer a variety of cultural events and exhibitions. Some 300 Hungarian artists will travel to China to give 60 shows during the year-long gala, and a statue of Petõfi will be erected in Shanghai. Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány will open the series of events in Beijing on September 2.
