Due to the railway employees' strike, carried on for months, the Hungarian Ministry of Labor ministry is planning to modify strike regulations, writes fn.hu, based on a report in Népszava.

Despite the heated debates that often accompany strike negotiations, some kind of agreement has always been reached about bare bones services in the past. This did not occur during the strike initiated by trade union VDSZSZ, which has exposed the legal loopholes in strike regulations. The Ministry of Labor is therefore planning to introduce regulations on minimum services and definie how many days in advance trade unions have to announce the strike. Another source of objection are cases where there is more than one trade union in a work sector but only one participates in the negotiations.

Trade unions do not welcome the possibility of new, stricter regulations and blame VDSZSZ head István Gaskó for pushing the legal limits with the long and inefficient strike, which, according to hirado.hu, might continue this week, as the demands of VDSZSZ are unchanged and MÁV is still not willing to satisfy them, claiming that it would endanger its financial situation. According to Gaskó, the workers are ready to continue the strike this the week.
