Hungarian Jewish Congress alerts EU
The Hungarian Jewish Congress finds it necessary to regularly inform the European Union about acts against Jews in Hungary, the Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary told MTI on Sunday, after a meeting of the congress.
Members of the organisation believe that racist, anti-Semitic groups have become more active in expanding and spreading their views in Hungary over the past few years, the federation said in a statement.
"The Hungarian Jewish Congress finds it necessary to prepare a report about anti-Semitic acts and regularly inform the leaders of the European Union about them," the statement showed.
The congress calls on lawmakers and those enforcing the law to take steps in line with international agreements against those promoting harmful views in Hungary. Holocaust-deniers and those inciting hatred should never again be allowed to continue with their harmful activities, the statement said.
