Hungarian invention tested on space station

US astronaut Jeffrey Williams successfully carried out a test devised by the Miskolc-based Admatis Focus in a state of weightlessness at the Columbus research laboratory on the International Space Station yesterday.

During the test Williams managed to generate foam on board the space station. The purpose of the test, codenamed Focus, was to perfect the production technology of metal foams.

The experiment represented the second Hungarian substance test in world space. The first one was carried out by cosmonaut Bertalan Farkas in 1980.
