Hungarian investigation team off to Afghanistan
A team of experts left for Afghanistan yesterday to investigate the circumstances of the deaths of the two bomb disposal experts who have died in the last five weeks, Magyar Hírlap reports, citing an armed forces source.
András Nyitray, Fidesz member of Parliament's defence committee, told the newspaper that Hungarian participation in the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan is inevitable, but it is a minimum requirement that soldiers be issued the most advanced technical equipment available.
The body of bomb disposal expert Krisztián Nemes, who died while attempting to defuse a bomb in Afghanistan last Saturday, will be flown back to Hungary on Thursday. His coffin will be given a reception with military honours at Pápa military airfield.
