A Hungarian-invented surgical knife was voted one of the world's 75 best new inventions at the World's Best Technologies Forum on Friday.

The "JEDI knife," invented by Hungarian doctor Zoltán Takáts, provides continuous information during surgery on the chemical features of tissue and whether it contains cancerous cells or not. Its main applications are in cancer and arterial surgery, as well as dermatology and plastic surgery.

Takáts teaches and engages in research at Semmelweis University.
