Hungarian hackers "save" PM from "bad democrat" award
Hackers with Hungarian internet service providers attacked the website of openDemocracy.org, sending its server down, Magyar Nemzet was informed by the organisation.
The independent website on global current affairs nominated Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány as "bad democrat of the month" for the speech he made at Balatonöszöd last May, admitting that he lied to win the elections. Votes came pouring in from Hungary after initial results showed that Gyurcsány was ahead of Thailand's General Sonthi.
The website later crashed after hackers put automated votes on the poll, manipulating the process to ensure that Sonthi, not Gyurcsány, would win the unwanted award, according to openDemocracy.org. The poll was eventually suspended.
