Hungarian company develops face-reading personality tests
A Hungarian company recently presented a new technology that uses artificial intelligence to determine personality based on facial structure. Facereading Kft has developed a device that can analyze videos or images of a human face and - similarly to the brain - make assumptions about personality and behavior. The technology is said to be particularly useful for HR management professionals, but has raised concerns about personal rights.
The device can detect personality traits that tests currently used by HR management professionals cannot reveal. Naturally, it cannot replace face-to-face interviews, but it can be used as an additional test to make the selection process more effective. Critics have pointed out that choosing between people based on their facial structure constitutes negative discrimination, and job searchers should be given the option to agree or disagree with such tests.
Judit Nagy, a co-director of Facereading Kft, said that if the device is used for the right purpose, it can be a useful tool in selecting candidates.
