Hungarian countryside sweeps "Museum of the Year" awards

Two museums were presented the "Museum of the Year 2007" award on Saturday in Budapest, the Békéscsaba Mihály Munkácsy Museum and the Region House of Jósvafő, reports stop.hu. The jury, which includes delegates from the Pulszky Society museum association, the museum department of the ministry of education and culture, the National Cultural Fund, Hungarian National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the Hungarian National Museum, chose the two institutions from among 11 applicants.

 

Three special awards were also presented to the Region House of Báta, the Town Museum of Nagyatád and the Bereg Museum of Vásárosnamény.

 

In addition, honorary certificates were presented to the Finta Museum of Túrkeve, the Hajdúság Museum of Hajdúböszörmény, the Frigyes Korányi Memorial House of Nagykálló, the Prison Museum of Sátoraljaújhely, the Ferenc Széchényi Region Museum of Ebes and the Military History Museum of Budapest.
