Hungarian cemeteries brace for annual "Day of the Dead" celebrations
Heavy traffic and a similarly heavy police presence can be expected around cemeteries in Hungary over the upcoming weekend, as the country marks All Saints' Day and the Day of the Dead. Police have announced that traffic restrictions will be in effect near cemeteries and asked people to use public transportation if possible.
The Budapest Police said that in some areas parking will be restricted and streets made one-way to help public transport vehicles reach their destination quicker.
Opening times of Budapest cemeteries will be extended. Between Friday, October 31 and Sunday, November 2, cemeteries will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Police recommends visiting cemeteries in the morning to avoid traffic jams and thefts.
