Horse race planned for Budapest's Heroes Square
A horse race is to be staged at Heroes Square as part of a festival that organisers hope will become an annual event. The Nemzeti Vágta ("National Gallop") will be the centrepiece of a cultural and national image festival organised by advertising figure Péter Geszti. He expects about 100 riders for the race from all over Hungary.
The festival will give towns and regions from across Hungary an opportunity to present their communities in tents on Andrássy út. Organisers hope that the event will become a tradition, as has happened with the Crafts Festival, the Wine Festival, the Sziget Festival and the Kapolcs Valley of Arts festival.
