Gov't and local authority in dispute over car parking
The government has told lawyers to look into a dispute with the Fifth District, as its Fidesz mayor, Antal Rogán, is calling for the Office of Parliament and the Health Ministry's exemption status for car-parking fees to be revoked. Currently MPs are permitted to park their car free of charge in the environs of the Office of Parliament.
Rogán said "if every state institution paid the money they owe for the car parks used, the district could gain a further Ft 100 million in revenues." Socialist MP János Schiffer and Fidesz MP Béla Turi-Kovács disagreed, opining that they "work there."
