Girl dies after being hit by drunken policeman

An unidentified 17-year-old girl has died after being run over by intoxicated off-duty police officer in northern Hungary on Sunday morning.

According to Magyar Nemzet, the 26-year-old sergeant was driving his own car on Leiningen út in Balassagyarmat when the vehicle slipped at a bend of the road and ran onto the sidewalk, hitting the girl and a 29-year-old man. The girl died of her injuries early this morning. The Balassagyarmat Police dismissed the officer who caused the accident. The Salgótarján Investigative Prosecutor's Office is investigating the case.
