Ft 10 million reward offered for help with Roma double murder case
Justice Minister Tibor Draskovics announced a ten million forint (about 39,000 euros) reward on Wednesday for information leading to the perpetrators of a possibly-racist-motivated double murder in a Roma community in NE Hungary.
Draskovics announced the increased reward on the Roma radio station Radio C. A middle-aged man and woman were shot to death overnight on Monday in the village of Nagycsés as they tried to flee from a house that had been firebombed immediately before the fatal shots were fired.
Police so far have declined to speak of motive but national police chief Jozsef Bencze increased the reward on the minister's instructions.
MTI learned from Roma interest groups that National Gypsy Authority Chairman Orban Kolompar will meet the minister on Wednesday and the national police chief on Thursday to discuss recent assaults on Roma residents.
