Five new minor border crossings open on Friday between Hungary and Austria, reports hirtv.hu.

These border crossings are open to tourists between April 1 and October 31 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and between October and April from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. They can be used only by citizens of the European Union traveling by bicycle or on foot.

The border crossings opening on Friday morning are located at Sopron-Görgehalom - Sieggraben (Szikra), Sopron-Görgehalom - Sieggraben (Asztalfő), Sopronkövesd - Nikitsch (Füles), Nagycenk - Deutschkreutz (Sopronkeresztúr) and Sopron-Berennbergbánya - Ritzing (Récény).

There are now nine border crossings of this type between the two countries in Győr-Moson-Sopron County. The governments of Austria and Hungary agreed to establish them last year, when such crossings were opened at Fertőrákos - Szentmargitbánya (St. Margarethen), Ágfalva - Somfava (Schappendorf) and Harka - Sopronnyék (Netzkenmarkt). Last month, another was opened at Ágfalva - Lépesfalva (Loipersbach).
