Ethnic Hungarian woman in Slovakia appeals to Strasbourg
Nyitra-based ethnic Hungarian university student Hedvig Malina has appealed to the Strasbourg Court of Human Rights for a legal remedy for what she described as "the inhuman and humiliating conduct of the Slovak investigating authorities."
Malina told Népszabadság yesterday that she is not looking for financial compensation but "if the court says I was right, that will provide enough moral satisfaction for me." Malina claims she was beaten up in Nyitra in the summer of 2006 after she was overheard speaking Hungarian on a mobile phone.
