Erk becomes second Hungarian village to accept homeless
After Tarnabod, Erk has been designated the second Hungarian village to receive homeless people in Hungary. The program, initiated by the local government in conjunction with the Hungarian Maltese Cross gives homeless families from the capital a permanent home.
According to the local newspaper for Heves County, the local government entered into discussions with the Maltese Cross (Magyar Máltai Szeretetszolgálat), which operates the program in the other village. They are guaranteed public service work, as well as a garden to grow food in.
