Members of Trade Union of Electricity Industry Workers (Villamosenergia-ipari Dolgozók Szakszervezeti Szövetsége) will hold a two-hour strike on Wed. 21 Nov. to protest pension and health insurance reforms, says trade union chairman Rezső Gál in an interview with RTL Klub Híradó.

The power supply will stay in balance because the amount of electricity lost during the strike will be imported. However importing power will cause an increase in power costs.

The strikes will be short, in southern Hungary they will last from 2-4pm. The Budapest and Vértes power plants will strike in the morning, though the exact time is yet to be determined. Similarly, the Paks power plant has not yet to decide on what hours to strike.

The electricity employee strike is held on the same day that Hungarian railway employees, teachers and bus drivers have planned to strike. All are protesting against changes in the Hungarian national pension system, and health insurance. This will result in the closure of railway lines.
