Drought leads to campfire ban in Hungary
Hungarian authorities have issued a ban on lighting fires within 200 metres of woodland and forests, the farm ministry told MTI on Tuesday.
Hungary has experienced a drought and so the risk of fire in areas containing trees and reeds has risen substantially, the ministry said.
Travellers are also being asked to refrain from dropping cigarettes from the windows of vehicles or trains in case fires spread to dried-out fields.
