Driving licence fraud suspected at Budapest admin office
The National Bureau of Investigation suspects a Budapest office clerk and her African refugee friend of bribery and document forgery after they unlawfully issued Hungarian driving licences to at least 40 foreigners.
The licences were manufactured on a large scale basis in a Buda district administration office. An office department head, Sándor Kapus, told reporters on Thursday that the crime began in 2005 when an African refugee obtained the confidence of clerk Ágota Sz. and began to court her. He then persuaded Sz. to issue drivers licences to persons he took to the office in exchange for perfume, sweets and small electronic items.
