“Budapest’s Sixth District has promised to suspend the enforcement of penalties on bars and restaurants that do not close at 10 pm from 1-10 September,” said Péter Városi the chairman of Broadway Association formed by local restaurants.
A new decree that bars and restaurants in the district shut their doors by 10 pm is slated to come into force on September 1.
“The association expects the local government to cancel the regulation at its meeting on September 10. Restaurants will have developed a mutual code of conduct by 15 September,” Városi added.
Restaurants will demonstrate by switching off their lights at 10 pm on Tuesday, Napi Gazdaság learnt.
