District V to raise and standardize parking fees on Friday
Budapest's downtown District V will introduce a standardized parking fee of Ft 300 (€1.30) per hour from Friday, August 1, which represents a hike of Ft 35 to Ft 70, reports vezess.hu. The change is due to an unanimous decision by the Budapest Public Area Parking Association (Fővárosi Közterületi Parkolási Társulás).
Currently, the fee is Ft 265 in some priority areas in the district, and Ft 230 elsewhere.
The Mayor's Office said that while the fee will be raised, it is still under the maximum fee possible, which is capped by a regulation at Ft 460.
Despite this, the new fees will be lower than only two places in Budapest: Margaret Island (Ft 345 Ft) and the castle area in District I (Ft 430).
