Disgraced Hungarian discus thrower to go to Beijing
The Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB) on Thursday decided to enter Hungarian discus thrower Róbert Fazekas, who was stripped of his gold medal after failing to produce a sufficient amount of urine in the 2004 Olympics, for the Beijing Olympics.
Fazekas threw the discus at a distance of 64.56 metres - six centimetres above the level of Olympic qualification - in Ljubljana recently.
MOB on Wednesday said that Fazekas should sign the declaration that all Hungarian Olympians had already adopted, pledging to observe all anti-doping rules and compete in the spirit of fair play.
"Four tough years are behind me. Athens caused me an emotional and physical shock but all this is over. I might have committed errors for which I beg the forgiveness of all whom I disappointed," Fazekas told MTI on Wednesday.
