The director of Renaissance Year Zoltán Thuróczy has resigned for family reasons, surprising the whole management board. According to index.hu, his duties are taken up temporarily by the leader of Hungarofest Kht. Rita Rubovszky. The Renaissance Year is a festival organized to mark the 550th anniversary of the coronation of King Matthias.

Thuróczy, appointed by education minister István Hiller, has been working on the Renaissance Year project since last summer. His duty was to coordinate the project launched in January. His temporary successor denied that he left because of the shortcomings in the organization of the festival. According to her, Thuróczy was doing his job meticulously, but did not handle the pressure well as he was inexperienced.

She adds that the problems surrounding the programs are not serious, and she is finding a solution, while looking for a new director whose work would be more diverse as she would like the new person to organize future programs as well.
