Dioxin found in coffee imported to Hungary
Coffee contaminated with Dioxin has been discovered in Hungary, reports fn.hu. The coffee - imported from Sweden and marketed under the Jede brand - will be withdrawn immediately from stores.
The toxic substance was found in a guar gum additive used by the manufacturer, at a level of 112 pg/g, much higher than what is considered safe.
"Of the contaminated coffee, 19.2 kg has been imported to Hungary, which is a significant volume in small coffee containers," – said László Búza, director-supervet of the Food and Feed Safety Directorate (Élelmiszer- és Takarmánybiztonsági Igazgatóság).
