Nine dignitaries refused to shake hands with Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány and Parliamentary Speaker Katalin Szili after receiving national distinctions at the Parliament on Sunday, index.hu reports. All attendees, however, shook hands with President László Sólyom.

Éva Vasadi Tersztyánszkyné, former constitutional judge and assistant dean at Pázmány Péter Catholic University, said her refusal to shake hands with both Gyurcsány and Szili was due to "professional and conscience-related reasons."
