Deal on visa-free travel to America seen as close
Talks for Hungarians to travel visa-free to the United States could conclude within the next few days, Deputy Foreign Minister Marta Horvath Fekszi told MTI after a parliamentary committee meeting on Tuesday.
An agreement on exchanging law enforcement data was scheduled for signing before September 10, she said. The ministry expects talks on this final part of the visa waiver agreement to be sealed some time this week.
The next step is to hold a meeting of Hungary's five parliamentary parties, which could happen next week, she added. Then, the accord is to go before the government and Parliament.
Hungary has received positive feedback on its proposals from the U.S. State Department, the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security, Horvath Fekszi said.
