Csontváry painting fetches Ft 180 million
An unidentified buyer has paid Ft 180 million (€690,000) for "Group Proceeding Across Bridge" by painter Tivadar Kosztka Csontváry at an auction arranged by Mű-terem Galéria on Monday. The painting was declared a protected work of art prior to the auction.
The Hungarian record is held by Mihály Munkácsy's "Dusty Road" which sold for Ft 220 million at the same gallery three years ago.
