Controversial Tesco advertisement on Hungarian channels
Hungary's National Radio and Television Board (Országos Rádió és Televízió Testület, ORTT) began an investigation into a Tesco television advertisement, writes hirszerzo.hu.
The Christmas advertisement, broadcast by several channels, was objected to by a viewer because at the end, a child's voice says, "I will tell Mom that my Santa would come from Tesco".
Psychologist Jenő Ranschburg told KlubRádió that no commercial chain has the right to tell how families should feast at Christmas. He added that he would ban advertisements targeting children younger than ten years old, because they fall victim to the advertisements which can cause serious family conflicts.
Advertisements that target children do so in the aim of getting the children to talk their parents into shopping at a certain store or to buy a certain product.
